I presume you’re talking soft fizzy pop drinks… so here goes:

Our stomach has an acid environment so, for the stomach it’s ok. However, from our mouths to our stomachs, the path is not acidic so an acid can harm the tissue that lines it.

Imagine the pipes in your kitchen. They are made of resistant materials, but if you keep pouring acidd in, it slowly weakens the pipe. The more your pour, the weaker it gets and eventually can have a whole in…

It’s a bit the same for us. So as long as you only drink it in moderate amounts, its ok. But over a long period of time, it can cause problems… so it’s something to drink occasionally 😉

Acid in general can harm you. The small amount in a fizzpop won’t imediately harm you but over time if you ingest enough, it can cause erosion on your teeth, esophagus, stomach, etc. Just like drinking too much coffee or other acidic drinks.

It certainly harms your teeth because the sugars cause tooth decay. As for harm to the rest of you then yes it can in large quantities and over a long period of time – it’s unlikely to kill you but certainly the sugars in the pop can cause you to put on weight. I drunk too much Irn Bru once and it gave me really horrendous stomach cramps which i think was to do with the amount of sugar in it…..I was able to bend lamposts for a short while though 😉

Yes, I could just state the obvious about it corroding your teeth but it can do more than that. You should read this article its full of all the horrors that fizzy juice can do to your body!

My advice don’t drink too many cans a day or too fast. Best to drink water 🙂 Also people think fruit juice is a good drink, but it is also not good for your teeth because of the high acidity and it also contains a lot of calories. Better to eat fresh fruit.
