Yep, i’ve climbed up a couple of volcanoes. A few were in Iceland, they were called Oraefajokull and Raudufossafjoll (they’re a bit of a mouthful!). And the volcano that i studied for my PhD is called Nevados de Chillan volcano, which is located in central Chile in South America. It is 3212m high (about 2 1/2 times the height of Ben Nevis). I camped on the volcano about 1000m below the summit and spent 2 months walking around the volcano, studying the rocks and collecting samples, so I covered quite a lot of ground!!
I’m going to Sicily in October and there are lots of small volcanoes there which I’m planning to walk up too.
