  I guess it depends on what kind of gun he’s shot with… I’m no expert in guns, but I guess if a high calibre weapon with a fragmenting bullet or an explosive slug is used, the head would be blown up – or any other part of the body it targeted. Seemingly, if the shot came from a pistol, with a penetrating bullet, the result would unlikely be an exploding head – but very likely death or at least severe brain damaged, depending on entry and exit points, path through the head, regions affected, etc.
  
  In conclusion, all guns are very dangerous and should always be avoided.
