Ok, i’d love to say I’d give it to charity or to spend it on my research but I’ll be totally honest it would go towards my trip to the Aeolian islands in October!!

This trip will be follwoing my passion of volcanoes – the Aeolian islands, which are just off the North coast of Sicily, are volcanic islands and each islands is essentially a volcano (a bit like Hawaii but slightly less exotic). Although I won’t be doing any fieldwork there i’ll be hopefully walking up as many of the volcanoes as possible! I don’t get to do much fieldwork in my job these days as there’s not enough money for me to go so this would be a real adventure 🙂

      Hi everyone

Well, my idea for a new way to bring scientists to students and general public is simple. It’s a bit like speed dating, but instead of trying to find the perfect love match, the idea is you get a chance to ask several scientist a few burning questions. I’ve called it “Meet the scientists” and you would get 5min to talk to 1 scientist, ask him 3 questions. After 5min, a gong goes off and you change to a different scientist.

I’d use the money to organize all the logistics like finding a room, advertising it, recruiting scientists, etc.

Hope you think it’s a good idea and vote for me! 😉

      Hi there,

You mean the £500 winning price I guess – I will spend it visiting you guys, because ultimately, if I win, this will be because you voted for me. And also I would truly enjoy going back to school again and tell you all about the cool job I’m lucky to do 🙂

I would use it to go to conferences where I could present my research and discuss my ideas with other scientists. The 2 that I’ve been interested in are the next World Rabbit Science Congress and the next Universities Federation for Animal Welfare conference. Although neIther of those have annouced locations so depending on how far away they are, I may have to choose 1!
