To be honest, I am mostly interested in participating, not winning – the cool stuff if I win though is that I could meet a good proportion of you (students, teachers), which I think I would enjoy a lot

      Have a great day

To be honest, i didn’t even know it was a competition with an actual prize at the end of it when I said I would do it. I simply thought it would be what I’m doing now, which is answering your questions. I didn’t even realise we’d have live chats or could be evicted until last week!!

But anyway…..i hope that by answering your questions and chatting online that you’ll get a better idea of what real science is all about – some of it is glamorous, some of it isn’t!! And there are so many different jobs out there that a lot of people didn’t even know existed so hopefully by doing this, it might give anyone who has an interest in science a better idea of what sorts of careers may be out there for them!

And hopefully you’ll realise we’re not all geeky and unsociable like the stereotypes say!

Alot of my research gets funded by small animal charities. This means we don’t have money in the budget to go to conferences to share our research or discuss new ideas with others – which is really important for science to progress. If I win this competition, I’d be able to go to a few conferences – like the World Rabbit Congress and the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare to present my results and discuss new ideas with other experts in the field 🙂

I would like to win the competition so that I can use the money to introduce science and the excitement of science and technology to someone in Africa from a poorer background. If I can only inspire one child in the world to become an Engineer or Scientis I would be very, very happy. Having said that when I signed up for this I didn’t realised that it is a competition.

      Hi aimm17

Actually, when I decided to take part in I’m a Scientist Get me Out of Here, I did it without thinking about the competitive side. I just thought it was a great opportunity to share my enthusiasm for science and talk about my work to students. I was also hoping to learn something from you guys as well!

I only started thinking about the prize and what I’d do if I won when I was asked what I’d do with the money in my profile.

That doesn’t mean I don’t want to win – it would be great to be able to get some support to quick-start my “Meet the scientists” speed networking project. It would also mean I had somewhat been successful in my main goal in participating: sharing my love for science with the students!
